Die SDF Macross ist das letzte Rettungsschiff der Menschheit auf dem Weg nach Hause. Während eines Angriffs der Zentraedi trifft der Pilot Ichijo Hikaru auf die Sängerin Lynn Minmay. Der Film ist eine überarbeitete Zusammenfassung der Serie mit einigen neuen Storyelementen.
