Blaise Rybeck ist Privatdetektiv. Normalerweise wird er nur für Scheidungssachen und Ehebetrügereien engagiert. Bis ihm eines Tages Emma in Huas schneit, die ihn bittet, ihren Bruder zu suchen, der bei einem Flugzeugabsturz wahrscheinlich ums Leben gekommen ist. Die Leiche jedoch fehlt. Langsam steigt Blaise dahinter, daß sich auch das FBI für den Fall interessiert, denn der Bruder gehörte einer geheimen Fallschirmspringerstaffel an, die anscheinend ein Transportflugzeug des FBI in der Luft gekapert und dabei dem FBI Geld gestohlen hat. Die Lage wird für Blaise immer gefährlicher. Er findet heraus, daß Emma auch in den Fall verwickelt ist…
