Wegen einer Banalität wird die achtjährige Shula in ihrem Dorf der Hexerei beschuldigt und schließlich schuldig gesprochen. Daraufhin kommt sie in ein Hexen-Camp inmitten der Wüste, wo sie an einem Initiationsritual teilnehmen muss, um die Regeln des Lebens als Hexe zu verinnerlichen. Wie alle anderen Bewohner des Camps, ist Shula an einem Band verbunden, welches zu einem großen Baum führt. Ihr wird erzählt, dass sie verflucht und in eine Ziege verwandelt wird, sollte sie das Band jemals durchtrennen...
