Violet (Laci J Mailey) to samotna 19-letnia matka, która zmaga się z trudnościami losu i stara się wiązać koniec z końcem. Gdy dziewczyna traci pracę, postanawia porzucić swoje nowonarodzone dziecko. Podrzuca je pod drzwi pisarki Peyton (Genie Francis), którą wypatrzyła w lokalnym programie talk - show. Zostawia przy dziecku list z prośbą o opiekę. Wkótce Peyton odnajduje Violet, która zostaje aresztowana za porzucenie dziecka. Nastolatka pomimo, iż sama podjęła decyzję o oddaniu maleństwa, teraz ma złamane serce i bardzo tęskni za synem.
