Traja kamaráti z malého mesta - Wayne Lefessier, Darren Silverman a J.D. McNugent - si žijú celkom spokojne. Poznajú sa od detstva a nič im nechýba. Wayne má svoju živnosť, Darren sa stará o dôchodcov a J.D. predáva sendviče. Okrem priateľstva všetkých troch spája aj fanatický obdiv k spevákovi Neil Diamondovi. Lenže potom sa Darren zamiluje do emancipovanej psychoterapeutky Judith Fessbegglerovej - a zdá sa, že pánske trio končí. Judith svojmu novému milencovi totiž striktne zakáže schôdzky s kamarátmi, pripraví zásnuby - a svadba sa neodvratne blíži! Kamaráti chcú Darrenovi pomôcť, aby neuviazol v chomúte s takou príšernou ženskou, zvlášť, keď sa v meste objavila Darrenova prvá láska Sandy Perkusová. Lenže zbaviť sa Judith nie je len tak. Preto sa kamaráti rozhodnú pre razantnú akciu, akou je únos - že to však dopadne celkom ináč, ako si to predstavovali, ani vo sne nečakali...
