João Victor Borges
Born in 1995 in Rio de Janeiro, João Victor Borges is an undergraduate in Film and Cinema Studies at Fluminense Federal University (Uff). In 2018, he was awarded as "Best Student Film Cinematographer of the Year" by the Brazilian Cinematography Association (ABC), for his cinematography on the short film “Cravo, Lírio e Rosa”, by Maju de Paiva. He's also been the cinematographer of short films such as “A Casa de Ana”, by Clara Ferrer and Marcella de Finis, awarded by the 2017 Elipse Award, and “Pequenos Animais Sem Dono”, also by Maju de Paiva, awarded by the 2016 Elipse Award. He's also worked as first and second assistant cinematographer on several films. His first fiction script “Vigia” was awarded by the 2017 Sal Grosso Award as "Best Script of the Year", being finantially rewarded by the 20th Brazilian Scholastic Cinema Festival (FBCU). The script has also been selected for scriptwriting labs such as "LABEX Curta Kinoforum 2017", offered by the 28th Curta Kinoforum, and the "New Screenwriter's Lab", offered by the Darcy Ribeiro Film School. In 2018, he's directed his first original short film screenplay, "Vigia".
